DESIGNATED MARKSMAN RIFLE

Our Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR) Course, is hosted by Special Operations instructors. Tailored for those looking to enhance their mid-range precision shooting in tactical environments, this course bridges the gap between a standard rifleman and a sniper, equipping you with the skills to excel in high-pressure situations.

Course Highlights:

Advanced Marksmanship Techniques: Learn to shoot accurately at mid-range distances under various conditions, with a focus on both speed and precision.

- Ballistics Theory: Understand how factors like wind, elevation, and environmental conditions affect bullet trajectory, ensuring greater accuracy.

- Target Acquisition: Develop skills to quickly identify, range, and engage targets, improving your response time in dynamic environments.

- Engagement Strategies: Master the tactics used by designated marksmen in real-world operations, focusing on team-based scenarios and providing accurate fire support.

- Rifle Setup and Optimization: Learn how to properly configure and maintain your designated marksman rifle for optimal performance.

- Multiple Target Engagement: Train in engaging and transitioning between multiple targets with precision and speed.

- Practical Drills and Live-Fire Exercises: Participate in live-fire exercises that put your new skills to the test.

Whether you’re preparing for tactical applications or honing your skills for competitive shooting, this course will elevate your marksmanship to the next level, all under the guidance of industry professionals.

Primary Course Description:

This two-day DMR course is designed to develop fundamental skills required to engage targets effectively at medium distances, bridging the gap between traditional rifleman and sniper roles. Participants will develop practical shooting techniques, including stable positional shooting from multiple types of barricades and rapid target ranging, and engagement. Throughout the course, students will receive individualized coaching to develop basic capability and understanding of their DMR platform, ballistics, environmental factors, engaging unknown and known-distance targets, and non-standard shooting position techniques. DMR is oriented for shooters who have a fundamental understanding of rifle shooting/ shooter safety, and are looking to stretch their capabilities out to longer distances.

Course Day descriptions:

Day One will consist of two primary components: a classroom instructional period, and a range session focused on zeroing, chronographing, and building data cards. The classroom instruction will cover essential DMR theory and the fundamentals of precision rifle shooting, including topics such as the characteristics of fire, ballistic principles and their applications, equipment setup, and environmental considerations.

During the range session, students will select an appropriate zero distance for their rifles based on factors like caliber, barrel length, optical setup, and intended use. Each rifle will be chronographed to measure muzzle velocity, and detailed ballistics charts will be created for each student. These charts will include information on bullet drop, wind drift, and velocities at various distances, providing critical data for use during the shooting exercises.

Day Two is an all-day range, focused on applying precision rifle techniques. Students will engage known-distance targets from 50 to 600 meters, and utilize rapid engagement techniques for unknown-distance targets, shooting from various barricades and positions. The training will focus on learning the basics of body position in the prone, as well as adapting to different materials used for shooting positions such as ropes, chains, and pipes while maintaining fundamentals. Shooters will work together in shooter and spotter pairs to aid in developing communication, and assisting each other in observing splash and impacts. The day will conclude with an unknown-distance oriented competition, putting the skills learned over the last two days to the test. The range will be reoriented, and students will work off of their knowledge of range estimation, and data card preparation to achieve success.
